Directory submissions are performed to help a website to get more back links and achieve better ranking. Now if you have been on the internet for a while you know Google is the most popular search engine right now. And if your website is on the first page for your chosen keywords then you will likely to receive many visitors. It’s almost like free advertising once the work. You should focus on more than just using the search engine to get traffic to your website. But if your website is new you probably want to submit it to directories to gain some initial boost of back links. These are the foundation of a successful SEO campaign. It’s not a fun task but it needs to be done if you want to achieve good results on the search engines.
Your primary goal of submitting to web directories is to get one way inbound links from other high ranking websites. You want to focus on directories that are established and have a high Pagerank. Because those that are new will not pass much value to your website, stick to the established ones to save you time and gain better results. There are two ways to submitting a website to directories. One is to do it manually by hand, one at a time on your browser. The second option would be to use a automatic directory submission script or software to automate all/part of the task. If you’ve never done any directory submissions in the past you might want to do a couple manually to get a feel of the process. You will understand it better and able to make better choices when using the automated option.
Some high quality directories will have captchas that require you to enter some numbers to verify that you are a human. And if you are using a software to do this, make sure it can pick this up and present it to you. This is why it would be impossible to automate the process completely, and you should avoid using one hundred percent automated software, instead use semi-automated ones as they can produce the same results as manual submissions.
Last few days I am again having problems with my hosting provider. After I changed Fly High to Cats Nine reseller I was very satisfied for almost 6 months and then troubles are starting. Server Eli which is located in London Blue Square constantly has issues, first connectivity, then usage and finally firewall. I can’t say anything against the Cats Nine since their support was always quick and they always responded fast, but it’s almost 20 days and they can’t solve the issue. What is more ironic my old hosting where I have few sites is currently passing 383 days of uptime. I don’t remember when I needed to contact them, but I don’t want to put more sites there since I don’t like to have all eggs in one casket.
While I still don’t think to leave Cats Nine I started investigating another hosting options, especially VPS packages, but it looks my budget is still small for the mentioned managed service.
According to the Web Hosting Reviews and threads on WHT it looks Blue Host would be nice solution even it is not full reseller. But then problem is that I need WHM, even I don’t sell hosting, I have few clients who want their independent cPanels. Other option is well known Host Gator another big name. So as Blue Host they offer everything unlimited which is IMHO impossible. Sooner or later you will cross some invisible line which will lead to an account suspension.
Anyway, now let’s go back to the further research. I would appreciate some good hosting suggestions from your personal opinions. Reseller is not a condition, but mostly reliable hosting with 99.9 uptime and where I can put at least 50 small sites, every up to 1000 UV daily. Not more then 5 GB of space. Good support, which know what they are doing is a must have.
Unless you are a professional web designer, you will probably want to utilize the benefits provided by a web design company in order to establish your online presence. This type of service knows all of the steps required to effectively get your site designed to standard as well as the best way to get your message out. The initial cost of hiring a design service might seem a little steep at first but you will realize savings in the long run when your website brings you optimal traffic that promotes your message and converts to product sales.
Decide the purpose of your website before you proceed with any other planning. A website with the purpose of informing will have a very different design than one that only has the purpose of selling products. Or, it may be a combination of these two main purposes.
Your web design should be accessible from any type of browser. Remember that nowadays web pages are not only presented on a traditional browser but also on mobile devices. You also need to consider those with disabilities like hearing and vision impairment. For example, there are web browsers that can synthesize text into voice and the good web designer knows things like providing alternate text for images because graphics are non-detectable for users with disabilities.
Content is very important and part of the planning as well. If part of the purpose of your website is to inform, you want to make sure that content is written well and helpful to your visitors. Maybe you as the client want to write the content yourself or you have access to skilled content writers. This needs to be identified up front in the planning. You also must consider that content changes frequently and facilities (such as a blog or content management system) should be implemented as part of the plan. You want to have the flexibility to update content without needing to consult your service company each time. And with the help of a good web design company, you should be able to prepare the content for them the way that’s ideal for users and search engines.
If you are in the process of getting a website built then you need to look for a web designer who has SEO, short for search engine optimization, to work with. Because a website that’s not ranking well on the search engines is almost unless. A freelance web designer with SEO skill will able to do more work for you and advice you on the marketing side of your business. Of course, not every SEO web designer can or will, but you can ask! The point is, you will benefit more from someone with a SEO background.
First, you can leverage their experience in finding the right keywords for your site. Most of these design firms have worked with many different client businesses and have the experience to know which keywords to use in your site’s content. They also know how to identify the keywords that are on the “long tail” or, in other words, the keywords that are not as competitive. Competitive keywords are those used in the majority of searches. In order to speed up ranking within search engines, internet marketers will focus on the not-so-competitive words and gear content towards them.
Many freelance web designers have access to a list of talented copywriters who can take those keywords and create helpful content to fill your web pages. And they not only know how to create content that is helpful to users. They also know how to write the content in such a way as to be beneficial for site indexing in search engines, therefore your pages will rank higher and receive more traffic.
And since their core competency is web design, they can make you a website that will be a pleasant experience for your users. They know how to design websites that are compliant to the standards of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). The result of designing to standard is that you get a web site where the pages load faster, it is easier to navigate, and it is maintainable for the future.

Oes Tsetnoc SEO contest finished almost 15 days ago. Because lack of time I did not announced it earlier. My entry finished on position 2. Number one did really amazing job and probably if I was active (worked only for a 30 days in contest) it would be really hard to take first place against him. He managed 25k backlinks and me thanks to my friend with minimal effort easily passed 15k backlinks.
After the win in Sulumits Retsambew and second place here, I think I wll let few months pass before I enter to another SEO contest.
Those who wonder what I did check the www.sulumitsretsambew.org and read the frontpage article there. More or Less I did the same job but in much smaller ammount.
One interesting thing is that this blog gained PR4 with less backlinks then Sulumits blog.
Over and out,
Zeljko Ascic
p.s. I now have two blogs to think what to do with them.
